This shared cultural area offers potential for transnational projects and coordinated activities within the framework of EU funding programmes such as Interreg. Over the years, we have already taken part in a number of Interreg projects. Currently, the projects “Digitalisation Initiative for Eastern Bavaria and Upper Austria” (2023–2026) and “Danube World Heritage Tour” (1 October 2023 – 30 September 2024) are underway.
As part of a LEADER-funded project, the Donau-Machland-Strudengau region is being specifically developed as an attractive cycling destination. The focus is on the high-quality development of five new e-bike leisure routes. The aim is to further strengthen the Danube region of Upper Austria as a revitalising, nature-oriented cycling region. The aim is to further develop the cycle path network in the Donau-Machland-Strudengau area, position it as a modern offering and boost regional value creation.
The project runs from 9 April 2026 to 30 September 2027.
