Closures in the Danube Region in Upper Austria

Read here all information about road closures, closures on the Danube Cycle Path or Donausteig Hiking Trail, about closed cycle paths and hiking trails, as well as mountain bike tours and the corresponding detours or alternatives.

Closure on the Danube cycle path R1 between Inzell (municipality of Haibach) and Aschach

Due to rock stabilization work due to an acute risk of falling rocks and logging work, the Danube Cycle Path R1 on the south bank is completely closed from Inzell to Aschach until probably mid-March. Due to this restriction, the e-bike circular route "Donauschlingen-Runde" R1.04 is not passable throughout.

The Inzell-Kobling and Kaiserau-Aschach closures are expected to be lifted in mid-March, but the closure on the Danube Cycle Path R1 between Kobling-Kaiserau is expected to remain in place until mid-April. The good news is that this closure can be bypassed from the start of the season on April 1st using the Kobling and Kaiserhof ferries.

Closure on the Donausteig in St. Martin

Due to storm damage, the Donausteig section 1_N04 Obermühl - St. Martin between Untermühl and Neuhaus is closed and not accessible until probably the end of January 2024.

The closure also affects the hiking trails "Der steinige Weg", Feldbahnweg and Granitweg.
