The Donausteig, incredibly moving.

If you want to hike through the Danube region of Upper Austria, there are an incredible number of possibilities: The 450 kilometre long Danube Trail divided into 23 stages, 49 Donausteig loops and numerous regional circular hiking trails lead through the marvellous landscape, past fantastic viewpoints, unique cultural treasures and atmospheric villages.

The Donausteig also has the first hiking village in Upper Austria in Bad Kreuzen in Strudengau. Not only first-class accommodation awaits guests here, but also a wealth of hiking expertise.

Hiking 450 kilometres along the Danube

The Donausteig long-distance hiking trail runs along both banks of the river for 450 kilometres from Passau via Linz to Grein. Along the way, hikers encounter wondrous legendary figures, impressive landscapes and unique cultural treasures. It's obvious - the Donausteig is simply fabulous!

Safe mountain pastures

Rules of behaviour for safe coexistence on Austria's hiking trails

The Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism, the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture, the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and the Alpine Association have worked closely together to draw up ten rules of conduct for the correct handling of grazing livestock on Austria's alpine pastures. These have been reissued by the province of Upper Austria together with the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce, the Upper Austrian Chamber of Agriculture and the Alpine associations and tourism for the province of Upper Austria and are available as a video and as a folder.
