SPIRITUAL HIKING ON THE DONAUSTEIG:
Near Eferding is the Franciscan monastery Pupping. St. Francis, as a mystic of his time, tried with all senses and abilities to praise the glory of creation and thus his Canticle of the Sun was created.
In the Eferding Cathedral I slowly and consciously read/sing the text of the Canticle of the Sun of St. Francis:
1. Lord, be praised through Brother Sun,
he is the day that shines endlessly.
He is your radiance and image, O Lord.
2. Lord, be praised through our Sister Moon,
and through the stars which you have made.
They are so bright, so precious and so beautiful.
3. Lord be praised through our Brother Wind,
through air and clouds and every weather.
Your breath blows where it pleases.
4. Lord, be praised through Sister Water,
she is very useful, humble and fresh.
She quenches thirst when we are weary.
5. Lord, be praised through Brother Fire,
who lights up the darkness and night.
He is so beautiful, very powerful and strong.
6. Lord, be praised through Mother Earth,
who nourishes us, sustains and bears fruits.
Also adorned by flowers and bushes.
Starhemberg Castle with the Eferding city local history museum and the Starhemberg family museum.
The Eferdinger G'schichtenweg has several stations halfway along at the Eferding city square. There you will also find two great patisseries for a fruity ice cream or a small coffee break.
