Small Kösslbach Valley - Four-quarters view - Waldkirchen - Bräukapelle - Wesenufer
INTERESTING POINTS ON THE WAY:
Legendary cultural life:
Nature space & movement:
Large Danube Resonance Path Round
In 1996, the area around the Small Kösslbach was declared a nature reserve. The Danube Resonance Path makes the healthy diversity of the elements world there deeper experienced. On the large DANUBE RESONANCE PATH round one can immerse in the power of the elements over 12.8 kilometers and in 4.5 hours of pure walking time. The large round follows the Danube path round and the signage of the "4/4 view round."
On the large round through panoramas, forests, and hill meadows, one walks through the 4 elements WATER, AIR, FIRE, and EARTH. Each element is prepared for guests at 3 places plus an element exercise device with resting area: They tell of their qualities – generally and especially from the region! And they show you special resonance exercises so you can directly connect with each element and let yourself be strengthened.
The starting place board is located at Hotel Wesenufer. Then you follow first the element water into the nature reserve "Small Kösslbach Valley." At the resonance place "Forest-Air-Stairs" water passes into the element air. Shortly before the rock view, you enter the element fire, which accompanies the hikers over the 4/4 view to Aichberg, where at the resonance place "Earth time travel," the last element earth takes over.
In total, 12 element resonance places await visitors:
Per element there is also a movement place:
At the start or at the finale of the route, the 4 group element places await you at Hotel Wesenufer:
The round also offers new perspectives when walked in the opposite direction.
SPIRITUAL HIKING ON THE DANUBE PATH:
From Waldkirchen you look over the four quarters of Upper Austria, across green hills and blooming meadows into the Danube valley. A place to let the intense green affect you.
Holy green power,
break the concrete
in our heads,
in our country!
(Kurt Marti)
GREEN IS THE COLOR OF HOPE.
"Again and again, St. Hildegard of Bingen (mystic) speaks of green power. Green is a mixture of yellow – the color of the sun, and blue – the color of water. Green arises when a relationship between water and light, between heaven and earth exists. Green is the color of "heart power" and of the germ and creative power, which unfolds from the darkness of the earth every spring as life in beautiful nuances.
While hiking on the 4/4 round I let the healing "green power" affect me:
"If you want to regain strength: look into the green" (St. Hildegard) and she also speaks of "greening of the soul."
• Observe the many green tones (blue-green, light lime green, red green, light / dark green, brown-green...) and let them affect you, enjoy the green power.
Refreshment possibilities:
The path leads northwest in the direction of "Kagerer Jagasteig" to the underpass under the federal road. After this, it turns left onto a farm road. After the last farm house, continue on a field path, which partly also leads through the forest and finally leads into the small Kösslbach valley (nature reserve since 1996). In the V-shaped erosion valley, the path then follows a forest road steadily uphill. After a left turn, the path branches off steeply right into the forest from the forest road. After some time, one then reaches a section with rock debris. After this impressive section, the path leads out of the forest across a meadow path and reaches a farm. One follows the road towards Atzersdorf and passes the Four Quarters View, which invites you to rest. From Atzersdorf, the path leads on the road to Aichberg, where you keep left and go down to the forest via a meadow path. The path then leads relatively level through the forest to Waldkirchen. Once there, it turns sharply left before reaching the town center. From there, you follow the path through the forest on the old Wesener district road. You pass the "Bräukapelle." You reach the road again and eventually Wesenufer.

Valley of the small Kößlbach stream - nature reserve:
The "Felsen-Blick" rock balcony high above the Kleine Kösslbachtal valley is the final highlight of this nature highlight! It allows you to look back and enjoy the powerful seclusion of the rustic valley one last time. Donausteig - simply fabulous!
Donsteig rest area "Felsen-Blick"
This Donausteig rest area is located on the edge of the rural cultural landscape of the Sauwald high plateau not far from the Felsen-Blick in the Kleine Kösslbachtal valley. The information board shows the tourist highlights of the municipality of Waldkirchen. The legend "Zum Glück - die Braut!" ("Fortunately - the bride!"), on the other hand, tells of the court at Marsbach Castle and salvation through marriage.
"Kleines Kößlbachtal" nature reserve
Declared a nature reserve in 1996, the valley occupies a special position in the natural area between Passau and Schlögen. The stream has created a V-shaped erosion valley, which can be hiked and experienced on the paths around the area with its steep slopes, rocky edges and near-natural forests.
Bräukapelle chapel:
More and more people have been making pilgrimages to the Bräukapelle chapel in recent times, as the water spring located in the chapel was said to have a healing effect in times gone by.

A g’wachsene Kulturlandschaft…
Views and insights into nature
This special section of the Danube is characterized by the Schlögener Schlinge. The Danube bridge in Niederranna, which leads into the Mühlviertel, is located in the immediate vicinity. Numerous excursion options open up impressive views of a varied landscape of green hills, wooded slopes, colorful meadows and expansive cornfields. Particularly worth seeing is the "Vier-Viertelblick", which offers a panoramic view of all four Upper Austrian quarters.
Hikes through the "Kößlbachtal" nature reserve become more attractive with every step, as the view is directed towards the foaming waters of the Kößlbach stream. The newly opened Danube Resonance Trail Waldkirchen-Wesenufer invites you to experience exercises that promote harmony with the elements, nature and your own perception.
On the opposite bank of the Danube, the Outdoor Escapes offer exciting adventures to discover the surroundings in an entertaining and varied way. Wesenufer itself is also an ideal starting point for e-bike tours into the Danube hinterland. Well-marked routes such as the R1.03 Donauengtal-Runde and the R1.04 Donauschlingen-Runde invite you to actively explore the region.

The inn (Wirtin 'z Atzersdorf) is located directly on the hiking trails (Donausteig, Donausteigrunde, ..........) and about 400 m away from the viewpoint/rest area 4/4-Blick.
