Grand Danube Resonance Trail Loop

In 1996, the area around the Kleiner Kösslbach was designated a nature reserve. The Danube Resonance Trail allows visitors to experience the healthy diversity of the world of the elements there more deeply. On the Grand DANUBE RESONANCE TRAIL Loop, you can immerse yourself in the power of the elements over 12.8 kilometers and 4.5 hours of pure walking time. The Grand Loop follows the Donausteig Loop and the signage for the “4/4 View Loop.”

On the long loop through panoramic views, forests, and rolling meadows, you’ll journey through the four elements: WATER, AIR, FIRE, and EARTH. Each element has prepared three locations and an element-specific exercise station with a rest area for visitors: They tell you about their qualities—both in general and as they relate specifically to the area! And they’ll show you special resonance exercises so you can connect directly with each element and draw strength from them.

The starting point sign is located at the Hotel Wesenufer. From there, you first follow the element of Water into the “Kleines Kösslbachtal” nature reserve. At the “Wald-Luft-Stiege” resonance spot, Water transitions into the element of Air. Shortly before the Felsenblick viewpoint, you’ll immerse yourself in the element of fire, which accompanies hikers past the 4/4-Blick viewpoint all the way to Aichberg. There, at the “Erdenzeitreise” resonance spot, the final element—earth—takes over.

A total of 12 elemental resonance points await visitors:

There is also a movement areafor each element:

• The WATER Element Movement Space invites you to engage in flowing movements

• The EARTH Element Movement Area invites you to feel your primal power

At the start or at the end of the tour, the four group element areas await you at the Hotel Wesenufer:

• WATER – WISHES on the stone walkway at the Wesenufer natural beach


• AIR – TALENTS in a circle around the central tree at the Wesenufer in the hotel’s inner courtyard


• FIRE – ARCH at the Danube entrance to the parking lot


• EARTH – QUESTION-AND-ANSWER LINES between or in front of the trees on the shore

Walking the loop in the opposite direction also offers new perspectives.

GREEN IS THE COLOR OF HOPE.
“Time and again, St. Hildegard of Bingen (mystic) speaks of the power of green. Green is a blend of yellow—the color of the sun—and blue—the color of water. Green emerges when there is a connection between water and light, between
heaven and earth. Green is the color of “heart power” and of the power of germination and creation, which unfolds from the darkness of the earth every spring as life in beautiful shades.

While hiking the 4/4 loop, I let the healing “power of green” work its magic on me:
“If you want to regain your strength: Look toward the green” (St. Hildegard), and she also speaks of the “greening of the soul.”

The path leads northwest in the direction of "Kagerer Jagasteig" to the underpass under the federal road. After this, it turns left onto a farm road. After the last farm house, continue on a field path, which partly also leads through the forest and finally leads into the small Kösslbach valley (nature reserve since 1996). In the V-shaped erosion valley, the path then follows a forest road steadily uphill. After a left turn, the path branches off steeply right into the forest from the forest road. After some time, one then reaches a section with rock debris. After this impressive section, the path leads out of the forest across a meadow path and reaches a farm. One follows the road towards Atzersdorf and passes the Four Quarters View, which invites you to rest. From Atzersdorf, the path leads on the road to Aichberg, where you keep left and go down to the forest via a meadow path. The path then leads relatively level through the forest to Waldkirchen. Once there, it turns sharply left before reaching the town center. From there, you follow the path through the forest on the old Wesener district road. You pass the "Bräukapelle." You reach the road again and eventually Wesenufer.

  From Waldkirchen (535 m above sea level) you look out over the four quarters of the state of Upper Austria, across green hills and blooming meadows down into the Danube valley.
