The hike to the Gobelwarte starts at the festival ground (gravel parking lot next to the Generations-Motorikpark® below the Danube federal road). At first through the Am Hofberg district, then over a well-maintained hiking trail gently ascending, with a beautiful view of Grein, to the Labegger farm. Further along a field path to "Plank" and on the street to the "Gobelwarte rest area." Opposite the Hubertus chapel, turn right uphill to the Gobelwarte, newly built in 2018. At an altitude of 484 m, the spectacular 21 m high steel structure offers a fantastic 360-degree panoramic view, to the north over the Mühlviertel hills, to the south over the Alps, west to the Marchland, and east to Grein and the Strudengau. The return route goes via the "Nombergersteig" (No. 2). From the chapel, follow the street to the right to the "Nomberger" farm, then follow the markings through the forest back to Grein.
Tip:Another option for the return is the Gobel gravel road, passing the "Kren" farm and continuing via the Groißgraben gravel road, then left to the Binderalm inn, which invites you to a cozy rest with a view of Grein. Then continue through a short forest section back down towards the center.Safety guidelines:

The spectacular steel construction of the Gobelwarte was rebuilt in 2018. At 484 metres above sea level, the 21-metre-high viewing platform offers a fantastic 360-degree panoramic view of the Mühlviertel hills to the north, the Alps to the south, the Machland region to the west and Grein and the Strudengau region to the east.
The Gobelwarte is located directly on the Donausteig long-distance hiking trail and is a wonderful excursion destination.
Architect Claus Pröglhöf from architecture and beyond ZT was entrusted with the planning of the building, which was renovated in 2018. The twisted shape of the supports is intended to evoke the elegance and grace of a dancer. The vibrations that can be felt on the platform are intentional and result from this rotation of the structure.

Der Wald, wichtiger Wirtschaftsfaktor…
Der Donausteig hat die Donauniederungen mit ihren Auwäldern nun längst verlassen. Hier lernen wir einen anderen Waldtyp kennen. Im Aist-Naarn-Kuppenland, in dessen Ausläufer wir uns befinden, sind die forstlich genutzten Wälder ein wichtiger Wirtschaftszweig. In den tieferen Lagen wäre es natürlicherweise ein Buchenwaldgebiet mit beigemischten Tannen, Fichten und Eichen. In höher gelegenen Bereichen sollte der Fichten-Tannen-Buchenwald vorherrschen. Das heutige, vom Menschen geprägte Waldbild wird stark durch die Fichte dominiert. Besonders reizvoll ist aber das kleinräumig gegliederte Landschaftsbild des Kuppenlandes, das eine enge Verzahnung von Waldflächen und Offenland und viele Landschaftsbildelemente wie Schluchtabschnitte und Felsformationen aufweist.
