SPIRITUAL HIKING ON THE DONAUSTEIG:
Linz lies on the Upper Austria section of the Way of St. James. East-West-North route.
The origins of the Pöstlingberg Church date back to 1716 and it developed over the following years into a popular pilgrimage site.
Today the church is cared for by the community of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales (they see their work as service to others and focus mainly on youth education, such as girls’ hostels, schools, kindergartens, religious instruction at public schools and missions, and also as nurses).
People have pilgimaged to Pöstlingberg since prehistoric times – however, to a rock crevice located on the hiking path starting from the Collegium Petrinum (parallel to today's Kreuzweg) in the forest about three-quarters up the Pöstlingberg. You will find people here at all times of year seeking rest or strength. Especially at night, when many candles illuminate the rock crevice with a Madonna and the surrounding forest, this place radiates a special mysticism. A healing spring flows from the ground in front of this cult site.
Anyone looking for a healing place near the bustling city life is exactly right here!
Take in the power of this place with all your senses.
From the starting point you have a very beautiful view of the Linz cultural mile on the Danube:
The Ars Electronica Center, the Lentos Art Museum Linz, the Brucknerhaus and the Linz Castle with the new south wing. You walk along the AEC, under the bridge, past the New Town Hall and reach the Upper Danube Street. Via Talgasse and Berggasse you come to a point where you cross the route of the Pöstlingberg Railway. From Hohe Straße, go left into Schablederweg, mostly alongside the tracks of the Pöstlingberg Railway. After about 200 meters, there is an option to turn left into Hohe Straße, where you will find the Linz Zoo. If you stay on Schablederweg, you will reach Pöstlingberg (537 m). The "Pöstlingberg Experience World" includes, besides the zoo and the Pöstlingberg Railway, also the Grottenbahn with its unique fairy tale world, the baroque pilgrimage basilica and the rose garden. The view from the panorama plateau over the city of Linz reaches the Alpine foothills in clear weather. Over the steep Kreuzweg you come to Collegium Petrinum. The Episcopal Gymnasium was built at the end of the 19th century. Then continue via Leisenhofstraße, Doppelbauerweg and Rosenauerstraße into the main street, which brings you back to the rest area in front of the Ars Electronica Center. From here you can also explore the main square and the old town of Linz directly via the Nibelungen Bridge.

At Beenie, guests can enjoy more than 15 different coffee variations all day (Coffee all day), breakfast all day (Breakfast all day) and homemade food all day (Homemade all day).
Beenie is actually Jamaican for "small": a small, quiet, cosy café in a comparatively small town. It alludes to the coffee bean in all its different variations and preparation methods. Coffee is absolutely at the centre of the philosophy - because of the love of coffee. The second core area is the extraordinary breakfast menu, including the exotic signature dish "Shakshuka", which Beenie.all day operator Philipp Kaufmann got to know and love while travelling, including to Israel. The Beenie lives organic and sustainable, offers a cosy living room atmosphere as a clear contrast to the hectic shopping centre flair and a healthy range of food and drink (coffee, tea, freshly squeezed juices and smoothies as well as a vegetarian/vegan menu or with dishes made from organic meat).
Open from 2 pm in warm (from 16°) and sunny weather.
The Biergartl has the largest selection of beer in Linz and many other specialities, such as BIO Möste and BIO juices from the Mühlviertel.
A large selection of the finest homemade pastries awaits guests at the Jindrak Pöstlingberg branch. Jindrak's extensive range of drinks and breakfasts is complemented by Pöstlingberg specials. Visitors to the Pöstlingberg can enjoy small snacks such as goulash soup, toasts and sausages. A special wine list completes the culinary experience.
For an unforgettable kebab experience.
Of course, we also offer various pasta dishes, gratinated dishes, salads, starters and desserts on our menu. This is only available at Casa Corrado in Linz.

Wilde Stadtnatur…
- ja! Trotzdem eine schöne Geschichte!
