Welcome to fishing in the Ranna Valley.
Oberkappel is particularly popular among fishing enthusiasts. The Ranna Reservoir, Lake Rannabad, and the fly-fishing waters of the Ranna River are ideal for fishing.There is a good population of fish, including zander, carp, pike, rainbow trout, brown trout, tench, perch, and many more.

Since 2021, the Rannastausee has been jointly managed by Gasthof Süss and Energie AG OÖ and will therefore be available in the future as a single body of water—from the confluence of the Osterbach to the dam—without any fishing boundaries. This means that the entire Ranna Reservoir can be fished with just one fishing permit.
The fishing regulations remain essentially unchanged; the upper section of the Ranna (from the confluence of the Osterbach to the Langmühle) will continue to be managed as a fly-fishing section in the future, just as it has been in the past.

From Austria: Exit the motorway in Linz/Zentrum; from Linz on the B 127 federal road in the direction of Rohrbach; after the villages of Neufelden and Altenfelden, take the roundabout in the direction of Putzleinsdorf - Oberkappel. Distance from Linz approx. 60 km
From Germany: Exit the motorway in Passau/Nord; from Passau continue in the direction of Wegscheid; after the village of Untergriesbach (approx. 5 km after) turn right to Oberkappel
