Orangerie

The historic walls of the Orangery in Schärding tell their own story. In 1883, a brewer from Schärding named Georg Wieninger decided to build a garden house. At that time, this orangery was also called the "glass house" and was also used in this sense. In 1927, the convent of the Brothers of Mercy acquired the garden house together with the land from Mr. Wieninger and housed the spa gardening in this beautiful spot. The garden then became smaller and smaller, and the house was only used to overwinter the plants. The house and the garden were left to decay and run wild until the convent first renovated the outside of the building and looked for a better use for this little gem. Now a restaurant with excellent regional and light cuisine with a focus on vegetables and plants is located within these historic walls. The wonderful park also invites you to linger and relax.
