This circular route is THE family hiking trail in Bad Kreuzen. There is so much great stuff to discover for children, but with its nearly 7 kilometers it is rather suitable for older children. To enjoy it with toddlers as well, I recommend hiking to the 2nd Zwergerl station, about 1.5 km in, located below the Archehof Gruber, and then simply walking back the same way. In the near future, there will also be a dedicated kids' round starting from above and about 3 km long. A small detour I would recommend on the route: When you reach the elevation at the Prinz farmhouse, follow the detour arrow towards the organic farm Starzhofer; the farm shop is a real "gem" and is open 7 days a week. You can get organic delicacies from the farm’s own production to enjoy on site or to take away!
My tip: Keep an eye out for our "trees of life"; there are 2 to be discovered on this round!
In line with the seasons, the Celts divided the year into two half-years, from March to September and from September to March, i.e. the period of long and short days. The Celtic tree circle assigned 22 trees to the different phases of the year, which make up the Celtic tree horoscope.
3 dedicated ladies in Bad Kreuzen worked out the properties of the trees and their healing powers and wrote them down in the "Treasure Book". A great project that was created with a lot of hard work and dedication.
The 22 trees of life can be discovered on some of our hiking trails and are labelled with informative signs; they have been growing there for a long time and are firmly rooted.
Nussi, the curious little squirrel, has prepared lots of questions and exciting tasks for our little hikers and is already looking forward to collecting a nut or two.
Each LIFE TREE has been individually designed as an original book and is a very special gift for nature-loving people.
The Treasure Book LEBENSBAUM and the LEBENSBAUM URKUNDEN are available in the online shop and from our "Tourismus Mitzi".
If you would like to learn more about our trees of life, we recommend taking part in a guided tree circle hike. Our trained herbal educators will give you an insight into their extensive knowledge of the various trees and their "healing powers" and benefits. You will be surprised what you can "conjure up" from leaves, bark and fruit.

The start of the Gothic church’s construction dates back to 1324. A keystone from 1490 suggests the completion of the present place of worship. In 1399 the parish of Kreuzen was incorporated into the diocese of Waldhausen.
In 1451 the parish of Kreuzen, next to Grein and Simonsfeld, was given to the Prince Regnant. As a consequence the regiment of Saxa Coburg-Gotha was the patron of the parish Kreuzen until 1968: On 28th November 1968 a letter of declaration of renunciation and later on 4th April 1974 a decree was signed between the regiment of Kreuzen and the diocese. Since then Bad Kreuzen is a parish of free episcopal conferment.
The outer walls are supported by beautiful and strong buttresses. Big lancet windows on the southern side enlighten the interior. In baroque times the lower Gothic part of the tower was increased in height and in modern time it was given a pointed roof. The delicate stellar vault of the two-aisled church hall is carried by two pillars. Under the organ gallery the room is divided into three aisles. Through an enormous ogival triumphal arch you have a view to the parish choir.
