Qualified hiking trail!

The 1.5 km hike along the Waldhausen honey extractor trail is an educational bee trail that informs children and parents about the life of bees as well as nature and botany. Numerous stations give families an understanding of the insects' way of life as well as beekeeping. The starting and finishing point of the circular trail is Gasthof Reutner on the Schlossberg. Each of the 17 stations brings with it a new discovery, as not only display boards line the honey extractor trail, but also exhibits and models to look at and touch provide plenty of variety. Children will enjoy the quiz, where they can answer questions about bees and nature. Families can also visit the businesses located along the Waldhausen honey extractor trail and take part in the supporting programmes on offer. During a visit to the Aigner family's apiary, bee products can be tasted and purchased. Here, children can make their own honey shampoo or honey scrub if they wish. In the Wimmer family's wax-making showroom, children and parents learn interesting facts about the craft of candle-making. At the end of the hike along the honey extractor trail, hikers can stop off at Gasthaus Reutner and savour the delicacies, including those made from the products of the surrounding beekeepers.
