"Our vision was and is to enable an intensive experience of Anton Bruckner's music, which is not easily accessible to everyone, and to promote young talent," says Prof. Dr Klaus Laczika, founder of the St. Florian Bruckner Festival.
Our "sonorous" project, which began in 1997 as a private initiative and is now, according to the London-based "The Bruckner Journal", a highlight among Bruckner events worldwide, was honoured with one of the two prizes in the category of art education. "The special thing about the St. Florian Bruckner Festival is the connection between location, composer and work," emphasises doctor Klaus Laczika. They take place every year in the third week of August in the heart of Bruckner's (1824 - 1896) spiritual home, the Augustinian canons' monastery in St. Florian.
A place of tranquillity and space to be touched by the music of the brilliant composer, organist and music teacher Anton Bruckner. Matthias Giesen, artistic director: "We want to encourage our visitors to actively engage with Anton Bruckner's work and also build a bridge to modern music, for example with jazz versions. We achieve this dialogue not only through high-calibre concerts, but also through symposia and lectures."
