The Sauwald forest towers high above the Upper Danube Valley and offers marvellous views of the Danube, which gently flows through the landscape here. 15 of these magnificent vantage points between Passau and the "Naturwunda" Schlögener Schlinge can be found along the Sauwald Panoramastrasse, a 50-kilometre-long high-altitude trail above the southern Donauleiten. Marvel at the wooden sculptures by sculptor Michael Lauss at the panoramic stations, linger on the cosy seats, look down on the Danube scenery and enjoy the distant views from the Czech border across nearby Bavaria to the Salzkammergut! The Sauwald Panorama Road runs for around 50 km through a total of six municipal areas (St. Agatha, Waldkirchen am Wesen, St. Aegidi, Engelhartszell, Vichtenstein, Esternberg).
