Since 1998, a small Franciscan community of Franciscan brothers, a sister and members of the OFS (Ordo Franciscanus Saecularis) from different countries and cultures have been living in the Shalom Franciscan monastery.
A conscious effort is made to maintain a simple lifestyle and in the spirit of St Francis and St Clare, the footsteps of Christ are followed and life is shared in its various aspects: Community, prayer and work.
The roots of the construction of the Jägerstätter Chapel lay in the treatment of refugees from the Mauthausen concentration camp at the end of the Second World War. The chapel is situated on a small hill and offers a beautiful view and is therefore often used for weddings, christenings etc.
