Rastplatz Pilz

Mushroom rest area near Plöcking
Rich pits...
Today they are mostly no longer used, the numerous small quarries in which the primary rock, mostly granite, was quarried. Today, the old quarries are largely forested. A few quarries are still in operation today, mostly as medium-sized or large-scale quarries. However, quarries are not only useful for people, they are also of particular importance for nature conservation. Biodiversity is generally enriched and special sites are created that are important for the eagle owl, for example. Water bodies with rich biocoenoses often form at the bottom of the pits. Pioneer plants can survive where new raw soil sites are created.
It is fascinating to see the different characteristics attributed to dragons. Some fear them, some believe that it was a "divine dragon" that caused the devil to take flight here at Untermühl...
