The Danube is a river with much symbolic character, connecting Europe from the west to the east. Running parallel to the silvery-blue band of the powerful river is the 365 kilometres long Danube cycle path between Passau, the city of three rivers, and the Slovakian capital Bratislava. Enjoy the unique cycle path with picturesque villages and spectacular views, rich in memorable experiences. Every passing landscape is unique in its attractions.
Lenght of stay: 7 nights
Day 1: Individual arrival in Passau.
You receive the information documents and rented bikes (if booked) at the first hotel. The “City of three rivers” is titled one of the most beautiful cities in Germany and has much to offer.
Overnight stay in Passau.
Day 2: Passau - Schloegen. Stage: approx. 40 km
Cycle tour from Passau via Obernzell to Schloegen. We recommend a visit of the monastery Stift Engelszell. Highlight of the day is the Schloegener Schlinge, it is an unique natural phenomenon and was appointed "natural monument" in Upper Austria in 2008.

Day 3: Schloegen - Linz. Stage: approx. 56 km
On the Danube cycle path you go past Kaiserau to Aschach. We recommend taking some time to explore Aschach, with its town houses from the Middle Ages with gothic, baroque and renaissance era facades and courtyards. Then you go further to Linz. The modern provincial capital Linz, offers a variety of interesting recreational opportunities: The Ars Electronica Center or the Lentos art museum are just a few of the inviting possibilities for exploring this city.

Day 4: Linz - Perg. Stage: approx. 47 km
Start out towards St. Florian, where you can visit of the monastery St. Florian (guided tour included). Go further to Enns, the oldest city of Austria. Cross the Danube with a ferry boat to Mauthausen and finish the stage with a short ride to Perg.

Day 5: Perg - Maria Taferl. Stage: approx. 55 km
From Perg you go past the castles Dornbach and Greinburg. Schloss Greinburg is the oldest occupied castle in Austria and the landmark of the Grein. Then you go past the “black wall” (a curious granite formation) to Maria Taferl.
Overnight stay in Maria Taferl/Marbach.
Day 6: Maria Taferl - Krems. Stage: approx. 54 km
From Maria Taferl you go to Melk, where we recommend a visit of the monastery Stift Melk. For more than 1000 years Melk is a spiritual and cultural centre of the country. You go further via Spitz and Duernstein, with its famous ruin Duernstein. Cycling through beautiful vineyards and fruit gardens you reach Krems.

Day 7: Krems - Vienna. Stage: approx. 59 km
For the most part the route declines softly and you can enjoy the views and landscape on your last stage in a relaxed manner. From Tulln take the train to Vienna where you give back your bikes.

Day 8: Additional nights or transfer back by train (incl. luggage) to Passau.
