“The Danube market invites to linger”
The boat dock is located centrally right by the Danube Bicycle Path. Cosy dining areas line the romantic promenade, and the Fishery Museum, situated 500 meters upstream, can be reached on foot. Houses from the Middle Ages, facades and courtyards of the gothic, baroque and renaissance period in the colours of the rainbow please the eye and give you a want to enjoy life – they tell you about the lives of citizens, sailors and “Schopper”.
The “Schopper” were the master shipbuilders in the Danube region. The name originates from stuffing moss in the cracks to seal the boat planks, which was their main activity at work. They mainly produced two simple and very typical boat types for this region: Plätte and Zille.
The nearby Danube Bridge connects the Hausruck and the Mühlviertel (two of Upper Austria’s four quarters), the provincial capital of Linz is a ½ hour drive away.
