Tour of places of contemplative retreat and prayer: View the historically important, part-ornamental, part-figurative mural paintings in the Late Gothic former chapel on the first floor of the prince bishop’s palace, and follow us to the pavilion in the infirmary garden, past wayside crosses, all the way to today’s cemetery church of St. Margareta. Linger in the monastery chapel with its gorgeously-coloured mosaic windows, and enjoy the view of the Danube Valley from the Friedenskreuz, or Cross of Peace, before entering the double-towered Rococo parish church of St. Mariä Himmelfahrt to learn from your guide that the southernmost of today’s two towers stood alone for many years, why the construction of the vault seems to have been faulty and which two Evangelists had a special connection with Mother Mary.
