Vocal Music for the Christmas Season, Motets, Songs, Gospels
What would Christmas be without music? From the Christmas Oratorio (Bach, among others) to the many folk song arrangements and “Silent Night.” The quintessential Christmas hymn is “Gloria in excelsis Deo”—“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.” It is always about the good news of God’s coming into the world, of the light that shines into the darkness of the world. This message is the essence of the Christmas vocal music that the Collegium Vocale aims to present in this concert.
