Musica Sacra: Inspired by Bach

“B-A-C-H is the beginning and end of all music”—Johann Sebastian Bach was a starting point, role model, and source of inspiration not only for Max Reger. The program “Inspired by Bach” presents original works and arrangements for piano and organ, as well as music by and “about” Bach: In addition to famous Bach works such as the Passacaglia in C minor for organ and the even more famous Toccata in D minor in Reger’s piano arrangement, the program will feature Schumann’s and Liszt’s explorations of the B-A-C-H motif —and, as the highlight, Reger’s legendary “Bach Variations,” Op. 81, a pinnacle of the entire piano repertoire.

The organist’s performance will also be projected onto a screen in the chancel.
