Following *Too Quiet?* and *Too Loud!*, the “Sound Ambassador” from the Salzkammergut takes the stage with a large ensemble. Three decades of repertoire, newly arranged for brass, bagpipes, and woodwinds.
Hubert von Goisern is adding another chapter to his 2027 tour: Following “Zu Leise?” and “Zu Laut!,” he will perform 13 concerts in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany this fall alongside the Lungau Big Band. Songs from his repertoire—spanning over three decades—have been arranged for a large ensemble. For him personally, this brings things full circle:
The fact that this collaboration came to fruition at all is primarily thanks to the persistence of bandleader Horst Hofer: At the time, Hubert von Goisern agreed to participate on one condition: Burkhard Frauenlob would handle the arrangements and play the keyboard. Frauenlob is the musical bridge between the two worlds. He played in Hubert von Goisern’s band for many years and has been the pianist and arranger for the Lungau Big Band for decades. He composed the majority of the arrangements for their joint program.
“With the big band, I get to enjoy something truly special. I sit right in the middle of the orchestra, so I have the best seat in the house, and I get to rediscover my songs.” (HvG)
Since their first joint performances in 2022–23, the powerful sound of Hubert von Goisern and the Lungau Big Band has brought sold-out concert halls in Austria and Germany to life. In 2023 and 2024, this was crowned by the live album “Blech, Balg & Holz” as well as a highly acclaimed recording from the Orpheum in Graz, broadcast on ORF.
Hubert von Goisern is a musician driven by one thing above all else: curiosity. His unmistakable musical language is rooted in the harmonica, yodeling, and the authentic sounds of the Alps as much as it is in international influences—yet it never stops evolving. Hubert von Goisern has reimagined folk music for the big stage, pushed boundaries, and remains on the road to this day, always in search of new sounds, experiences, and encounters.
The Lungau Big Band has been in existence for over forty years and is one of Austria’s most active and respected jazz ensembles. It brings internationally renowned soloists to the stage, including Nils Landgren, Randy Brecker, Gunhild Carling, and James Morrison. It invites composers to create new programs and is known for its exceptional longevity.
