Matthias Kempf Trio - "in so ana zeit"

Matthias Kempf is one of the great unknowns of the Austrian music scene. Of course, he is not completely unknown, and like his colleagues Andy Baum and Ulli Bäer - with whom he forms a very popular trio - he is considered by those in the know to be in the A league of musicians working in this country. At least as far as the quality of his work is concerned.

In terms of quantity, there is some catching up to do: Kempf's last album release was many years ago, but in 2026 we can talk and write about a memorable return, and the first harbinger was released in November 2025: the single "nur vor an koidn herz". It is a concentrate of the emotions that accompany Kempf's return - and it comes just in time, as a message in a bottle "in so ana zeit" (as the new album is called). From now on, the burden of proof will fall on alert ear and eye witnesses, i.e. on all of us.

The trio line-up gives the songs a special intensity and intimacy that perfectly exposes the core of his dialect music.
Kempf is (and this applies even more to his concerts) not a fast train in one direction, but a meeting place: sometimes a waiting room for thoughts, sometimes a train into the absurd - and always a place where you like to stay a little longer...
