The sound of cultures: Karl Kohaut - Haydn's lutenist

In four concerts this season, the Kost-Proben series once again offers a glimpse behind the scenes of great orchestral works. 

Virtuoso lute music with the active participation of strings was his specialty. He was one of the last and most important lutenists of the Baroque period and carried the theorbized version (with a long neck) of the instrument into the 18th century. There it lives on to this day in Schrammel music. Karl Kohaut's melodies are as folksy as they are thrillingly modern. He overcomes technical barriers with ease, delighting even the most demanding audiences. He gives the strings the most grateful tasks - music at its finest!
