Mu­si­ca Cae­sarea: Fux’ Sonate à 3

Court Kapellmeister Johann Josef Fux was the most important musician in the late Baroque imperial city of Vienna for decades. His ornate style was a model for his contemporaries and influenced the next generations right up to Mozart.

In addition to the further development of counterpoint, it was also his vocal melodic writing that paved the way for Viennese Classicism. His trio sonatas are widespread throughout Europe and were universally admired.

Entertaining, virtuosic, sonorous and full of ingenious ideas, they still delight young and old today.
