Orchestra concert on the anniversary of the death of the famous Upper Austrian composer Anton Bruckner

Franz Welser-Möst has been Music Director of the Cleveland Orchestra since 2002. He will celebrate his retirement in 2027, making him the longest-serving music director in the orchestra's history. He returns one last time with 'his' orchestra for a special concert at the Brucknerfest Linz on the 130th anniversary of Anton Bruckner's death.

he concert will begin with Wolfgang Amadé Mozart's 34th Symphony, the last that he completed as a court musician in Salzburg in 1780 and whose premiere he presented in Vienna a year later, finally released from his unloved service. This is followed by a work by the Lower Austrian composer Bernd Richard Deutsch: Intensity , written in 2020 for the Cleveland Orchestra, oscillates between overwhelming extravagance and introspective intensity, similar to Richard Strauss' hugely scored Symphonia domestica.
