Antonello Manacorda, one of the most exciting conductors of our time, makes his debut with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz. Mahler's 7th Symphony enters into a dialog with Mendelssohn's popular violin concerto.
Two eagerly awaited debuts are on the program of the seventh concert of the Great Orchestras series in the 26-27 season: Italian-French conductor Antonello Manacorda, who has caused an international sensation in recent years, not least with his complete recordings of the symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, brings Mendelssohn's famous Violin Concerto in E minor to the stage together with shooting star Yamen Saadi - concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. In the second half, the work, which oscillates between indulgent melody and spooky, playful virtuosity, is juxtaposed with Gustav Mahler's 7th Symphony, which also revolves around the key of E minor and whose fascination is similarly fed by the juxtaposition of shadowy 'night music' and splendidly extroverted sound eruptions ... including many an instrumental feature such as guitar, mandolin or herd bells. This orchestral masterpiece is performed by the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, which continues its series of Mahler symphonies.Untere Donaulände 7, 4010 Linz
