Brucknerfest Linz 2026. Bruckner improvises. Contemporary jazz meets late-romantic symphonic music! Martin Gasselsberger and Klaus Dickbauer improvise on Anton Bruckner's themes, rhythms and motifs with piano and saxophone.
Jazz pianist Martin Gasselsberger likes to leave things to chance: the brilliant improviser creates complex worlds of sound seemingly out of nothing. This puts him in the tradition of Anton Bruckner, who himself improvised with great skill and imagination on the organ, which is one reason why hardly any of his compositions for the instrument have survived. Together with Klaus Dickbauer, Gasselsberger now enters into a dialog with the Upper Austrian symphonist: familiar and unfamiliar themes, rhythms and motifs from his works are used to create a new sound narrative - with an uncertain outcome! However, Gasselsberger and Dickbauer's musical journey of discovery could possibly lead to the realization that contemporary jazz and late romantic symphonic music are not as far apart as one might think. In the special ambience of the Brunnhofer Galerie, the evening becomes an experience: in an intimate atmosphere, close to the musicians, surrounded by contemporary art.Untere Donaulände 7, 4010 Linz
