Guided tour in German language.
Bats "see" with their ears and fly with their hands. We rarely notice these mammals with their extremely exciting way of life, as they are out and about at dusk and at night. All native bats hunt and orient themselves with the help of ultrasonic echolocation, which is imperceptible to us humans. Using bat detectors, which convert the high-frequency calls of bats into sounds we can hear, we will go on a walk through the botanical garden in search of the small, flying insectivores.Speaker: Julia Kropfberger from the Upper Austrian Nature Conservation Association and the Coordination Office for Bat Protection and Research in Austria
