Castle tour - dust & shadow.
With "Staub & Schatten", Saltatio Mortis open another chapter in their band history and return to the stage with a new live tour in 2026. The tour marks the start of an extraordinary collaboration with one of Germany's most successful fantasy authors, Torsten Weitze, whose new novel series "Der Prinz von Staub und Schatten" will be musically accompanied by the band. Together, they have created an overall artistic concept in which music and literature merge into a narrative that takes shape both on stage and in the book.In five consecutive EPs, Saltatio Mortis create the musical world for the five volumes of the novel series, each release tells an epic story and can also be heard independently of the novel series. The result is an artistic symbiosis: where Weitze creates worlds of sand, dust and shadow, Saltatio Mortis fills them with sound, rhythm and voice. The music becomes part of the narrative - and the narrative part of the music.
The first EP "Staub und Schatten - Heimkehr" will be released on January 23, 2026 together with the first novel in the book series. The other EPs will be released in the course of the year parallel to the following novels. Saltatio Mortis will present the project together with Weitze at the Frankfurt Book Fair on October 19 and give a first insight into the joint project.
For almost a quarter of a century, Saltatio Mortis have stood for music that combines historical timbres and a modern rock sound, with multiple number one albums, gold awards and a loyal fan base that celebrates the band as pioneers of a scene that values authenticity and attitude.
With their previous albums such as "Für immer frei" (2020) and "Finsterwacht" (2024), Saltatio Mortis have repeatedly tried out new musical forms - from a medieval-influenced sound with acoustic elements to modern rock productions and crossover projects. The Burgentour 2026 builds on the band's versatility; it is both a return to the roots and a step into a new chapter.
