Johannes Enders Trio plays "Pharoah Sanders"

The term spiritual jazz or ethno jazz goes back to musicians like Pharaoh Sanders, because when the tenor saxophonist played, it was always as if he established direct contact with the creator.

The Weilheim saxophonist Johannes Enders, who called his program with bassist Joris Teepe and drummer Gerne Calderazzo The Creator Has a Masterplan B in reference to a famous Sanders title, now bows to this giant who died in 2022 and is the last living link to John Coltrane. Enders is never tempted to emulate the unique sound of his role model. Although there are echoes in his tribute, he otherwise remains entirely to himself.
