The best young climbers are chosen in Auwiesen.

Climbing has been an increasingly popular sport for years. This is also noticeable among the next generation. And this age group - specifically U11, U13 and U15 or, in the case of bouldering, U17 - will be competing in September at the national championships in two different categories: lead (rope climbing) on September 13 at the Auwiesen climbing hall in Linz and a week later, on September 20, in bouldering at the Naturfreunde climbing hall in Steyr.
The event is organized by the Upper Austrian Climbing Association, of which the alpine clubs and their respective sections are also members. There are two qualifying rounds in which - depending on the number of participants - the best eight or ten participants make it to the final. It's less about time or technique and more about "who gets the furthest", says Bernhard Steindler, Vice President of the Upper Austrian Climbing Association. Admission for visitors is free, the qualification in Auwiesen starts at 9.30 am, in Steyr at 9 am.
