With Viaggio dell'anima, Rolando Villazón, Wolfgang Katschner and the lautten compagney BERLIN embark on a moving expedition to 17th century Italy. The focus is on the monody - the expressive, emotionally driven vocal form that composers such as Claudio Monteverdi brought to life and thus laid the foundations for the art of opera.

Following the overwhelming success of L'Orfeo at the Semperoper Dresden, the artists now turn their attention to the inner world of a modern man - a soul traveler who experiences the whole range of human emotions on his journey: love and doubt, ecstasy and loneliness, hope and forlornness. An evening between early baroque and the present - virtuosic, emotional and touching.
