Mothers don't have it easy... that much is clear! Or is that not true at all?
We want to dedicate this exciting guided tour on Mother's Day to all animal mothers and take a closer look at their role in rearing their young.

For example, there are single kangaroo mothers who carry their young around in a pouch for a whole nine months, marmoset mothers who leave the carrying of their offspring to their husbands and meerkat mothers who receive active support from the whole family. In ostriches, females and males regularly take turns in breeding, while nandu hens prefer to leave the rearing of their babies entirely to the males.

The animal kingdom has a wide variety of task distributions and parenting models. Come with us and learn interesting, funny and curious stories about the different roles of animal mothers.

A picnic basket filled with sweet & savory treats (enough for 2 adults) can be picked up at the zoo buffet from 10:30 am.
