The music of the Italian High Baroque is characterized by expressivity, virtuosity and clear musical forms. Lively rhythms and sound-painting effects in the instrumental works are combined with emotional depth and artistic coloratura in the vocal music. Students of the Institute for Early Music and Historical Performance Practice will perform concerti, symphonies and arias by the composers Alessandro Scarlatti, Antonio Vivaldi, Nicola Antonio Porpora, Giuseppe Antonio Brescianello and Antonio Caldara.
