Sepp Auer: line · plane · space

22.04.2026 / 10:00- 18:00 (Further dates)
Linz, Castle Museum Linz
Ausstellung, Kunstausstellung

The Schlossmuseum Linz honors the late work and the enduring artistic practice of Austrian sculptor and installation artist Sepp Auer with a presentation of works from the last years.

Give the image space.

Sepp Auer’s conceptual and minimalist works originate in the image and unfold sculpturally in space into multilayered, precisely composed installations. His works incorporate text and writing, supports, or barriers. Ways of seeing are challenged, patterns of perception are disrupted, and new perspectives on line, plane, and space are opened up. These image-objects comment on the present and step outside the frame with the subtle humor characteristic of Sepp Auer.

Sepp Auer

Born in 1939 in Braunau am Inn, he lives and works in St. Peter am Hart. From 1975 to 2004, the artist – trained as a metalworker – taught at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. During this time, he had a lasting influence on many artists and on abstract sculpture in Austria. In addition to numerous works in public space, his oeuvre is represented in international museums as well as in major public and private collections.
