What a view! Contemporary photography in Upper Austria

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of photography, the Francisco Carolinum is initiating an open photo competition that celebrates photography in its entire spectrum, involves as many people as possible in Upper Austria and makes both professional and non-professional photographers visible.

The project comprises two competition tracks - one for artistic photography, which is aimed at artists and the art and photography scene in Upper Austria, and a hobby competition, which is organized in cooperation with OÖ Nachrichten and Energie AG OÖ. Upper Austrians over the age of 18 are invited to take part in the competition by photographing nature and landscapes.

WHAT A VIEW! combines artistic photography and amateur photography and thus opens up a multi-layered dialog between art, everyday life and landscape. The selected works will be presented in parallel at the Francisco Carolinum Linz from April 17 to July 12, 2026.
