Exhibition: Death in the religions of the world

18.10.2025 / 07:00- 16:30 (Further dates)
Linz, St. Barbara Cemetery
Ausstellung, Thematische Ausstellung

The exhibition provides an insight into ideas of the afterlife and rituals surrounding dying and commemoration of the dead in the major world religions as well as in lesser-known cultures, denominations and religious traditions.

21 panels provide lots of information, photos and symbols. The texts are understandable even without
knowledge. Ten audio stations invite you to listen, e.g. to songs and prayers that are used at funerals. There are also many hands-on elements.
With this exhibition, St. Barbara Cemetery is responding to the challenge of a multicultural and multi-religious society, which is also playing an increasingly important role in the life of a traditional Christian-Catholic cemetery. It promotes dialog, because dealing with death - before which everyone is equal - has a unifying effect, because it is about existentially important things for all people.
Concept and texts: Andrea Mayer-Edoloeyi.
Location: in the small farewell hall at the cemetery or meeting point at the porter, Friedhofsstr. 1.
