As the first official mountain bike single trail in the central Linz area, the Hornissen Trail was opened on October 26, 2021 and officially opened on March 19, 2022 after a test phase. The 1.2-kilometre MTB trail, which is around 200 meters deep, was created by the local mountain bike community in several hundred hours of manual work.
The near-natural trail was created as a joint project by MTB Linz, landowner Niklas Salm-Reifferscheidt, the Steyregg forestry administration, Naturfreunde Linz & Steyregg and the municipality of Steyregg.
Current trail conditions, closures and detailed information about the Pfenningberg trails can be found on the website of the responsible trail operators:
https://www.uppertrails.at
or https://pfenningberg.uppertrails.at
Use is free of charge for local residents and clubs. Commercial offers are prohibited and must be requested from the trail operator and landowner via UpperTrails / MTB Linz. Larger group events must also be registered.
UpperTrails (formerly MTB-Linz) is responsible for maintaining the trails and mountain bike routes. You can also contact them if you have any questions, requests or problems.
