Description:
Start and finish of the Enns town  experience trail is at St. Laurenz Basilica. The walk leads past Maria Anger through the former Roman legionary camp Lauriacum to the banks of the River Enns. At the Riverwalk, follow the trail into Enns old quarter, with Ennsegg Castle on Georgenberg Mountain always in view. Having arrived at Enns main square, the landmark of Enns welcomes you, the freestanding town tower. Past Ensegg Castle with the castle grounds it`s back to the starting point of the town experience trail, St. Laurenz Basilica.

Tip:
Visit the excavations in St. Laurenz Basilica lower church. Part of the excavations are exposed in front of the altar. The entire excavation site can be visited as part of a quided tour (by prior appointment). - Take this unique opportunity to marvel at the surroundings from more than 50 m up. Scale the 157 stairs at Enns town tower, past the bells and the old clockwork of the tower all the way to under the roof, where a small plattform offers breathtaking views in all directions. - Having arrived at the starting point at Enns main square, you can take the opportunity to visit Lauriacum Museum, one of the most modern Roman exhibitions in Austria.

Getting there

Getting here by car:
on Autobahn A1 exit at Enns Ost – continue in direction of Enns – at the roundabout take the 2nd exit – at the next two traffic lights follow the course of the road and after the Lidl-supermarket turn right into Lauriacumstraße Road.

Getting here by train:
get off at Enns train station – walk straight into Lauriacumstraße Road – after some 400 m you’ll find St. Laurenz Basilica on the right.
