Engelhartszell: Trappists’ Loop Trail

Description:
From the starting place in Engelhartszell (municipal office, Marktplatz 61) we follow Sauwald Straße road uphill and leave it again at the first serpentine. We hike through the forest towards St. Ägidi, but take a left turn at the edge of the forest briefly after having returned to Sauwal federal road. A short detour takes us to the Moarfelsen panorama vantage point. Having enjoyed the view we hike to St. Ägidi and leave it again on the road. After the junction at the edge of the forest we turn into a side road and pass Pamingerhof farm. We meet another road that we follow to the next forest section and take a right turn. We leave the forest and get to the trout circus ( http://www.danube.at/sixcms/detail.php?id=106053&_nav=61207 ). From there we hike through the cultured landscape and pass a panorama vantage point on the Sauwald panorama road (Throne). We hike downhill through the forest and get to another panorama place. We continue on Donausteig Trail to Engelhartszell.

Directions:

Vom Donausteig-Startplatz beim Marktgemeindeamt Engelhartszell, folgen wir der Sauwaldbundesstraße nach oben und verlassen die Straße linker Hand bei der ersten Serpentine. Durch den Wald geht’s weiter bergauf. Wir treffen auf die Bundesstraße, folgen ihr Richtung St. Aegidi, aber biegen am Waldrand links ab für einen Abstecher zum Panoramablick „Moarfelsen“ mit Blick auf das Trappistenkloster Stift Engelszell.

Zurück bei der Straße, können wir St. Aegidi besuchen oder wir queren die Straße und kommen, der Nebenstraße folgend, zum Pamingerhof. Am Waldrand vorbei treffen wir auf die Zimmerleiten-Straße. Dieser folgen wir bis zum nächsten Waldstück und biegen rechts nach Mühlbach ab. Beim Verlassen des Waldes erreichen wir den „Forellenzirkus“.

Es geht weiter hinauf zur Straße, wo wir rechts abbiegen und nach ca. 200 m geht’s links hinein in den Güterweg zum Panoramablick „Thron“. Wir folgen dem Weg bis es auf dem sogenannten „Stuhlbergersteig“ wieder durch den Wald bergab zur „Panoramabühne Engelhartszell“ und zurück zum Startpunkt geht.
