Legend has it that head hunter Greiner fell into the hands of poachers. They tied him to a beech tree with his head down over a cluster of blue tits. In his distress, he prayed to the Virgin Mary. A white stag broke the shackles and saved him from death. In gratitude, he erected a picture of the Mother of God. A chapel was later built.
If you walk uphill for another 20 minutes, you will reach the summit of the Haugstein, the highest point in the Alpine foothills at 895 metres (7v). To the right of the chapel, a forest path leads to the Vichtenstein district road. Turn right towards Zigeunerbrunn and then left down to the quarry biotope. Descend through the forest to the Fallauerbach stream to Engelhartszell.
