For cyclists travelling the legendary R1, the Danube Cycle Path from Passau to Vienna, there is now a free breakdown service in Mauthausen. Small repairs and service work on bicycles can now be carried out conveniently and free of charge at the ÖAMTC bicycle service station in the Donaupark. Do-it-yourself repairs: The service station is a 1.4-metre-high column equipped with a suspension device for bicycles, as well as an air pump and tools such as Allen keys, spanners and tyre levers for "do-it-yourself" repairs. "The ÖAMTC was founded 125 years ago as a club for cyclists and set up bicycle repair stations for its members back then. Staying true to our roots, we still support this climate-friendly form of mobility today, which has become more important again in recent years thanks to the bicycle and e-bike boom. We are therefore very pleased that we are now able to set up a bicycle service station along the popular Danube cycle path R1 in the Donaupark and thus support cycling," explains Harald Großauer, Regional Director of ÖAMTC Upper Austria.
By the way, many people don't realise this: You can also call the ÖAMTC if your bike breaks down. If a club member has a bike breakdown, they can call the breakdown service by dialling 120 or using the ÖAMTC app. "We are delighted about the support from the ÖAMTC and if cyclists can't cope, Sport-Trauner in the Donaupark is available for further help," say Gottfried Kraft from Mauthausen Tourismus and Donaupark Centre Manager MMag. Silvana Steinmetz in unison about this great facility. Photos: Gottfried Kraft from Mauthausen Tourismus and Donaupark centre manager MMag.
