The educational fish trail in Obermühl, which has been in existence since October 2014, focuses on aquatic wildlife.
The approximately two-kilometre-long educational fish trail leads from Obermühl downstream, where you can learn interesting facts about the fish species found in the Danube.

The fish species typical of the region and their way of life are described in detail on ten glass panels.

Rivers and bodies of water are often used as recreational areas by walkers. This is a great opportunity to use transparent glass panels to present the fish species living in the water and provide information about their way of life. Unfortunately, there is a great deal of uncertainty about fish and bodies of water and it is not uncommon for knowledge of nature and nature conservation to stop at the water's surface!

One of the main aims is to familiarise people interested in fishing, children, young people and tourists from home and abroad with the wildlife of the Danube in a natural environment.

Visitors' understanding of the sensitive hydrobiological processes in the "biotope of fish waters" is to be awakened and promoted. Ultimately, the need to protect water and nature is also emphasised.

The Danube Wave Trail begins at the Aumüller inn in Obermühl. A tarmac path leads along the river-side stations. The total length is around two kilometres in one direction, the end point is once again the Aumüller Inn.

The Danube fish trail is barrier-free!

The themed trail itself is easily accessible by car or can be travelled directly by bike. The stations are easy to reach for people with physical disabilities or parents with pushchairs. The informative walk is a nature experience for young and old.

"Donauwellen" is a wonderful nature trail along the Danube where the magnificent natural environment of the famous Schlögener Schlinge invites you to linger.

Typical representatives of Danube fish such as nase and barbel are introduced along the Danube Waves Trail. But also largely unknown species, such as zingel and streber, which are only found in this part of the beautiful blue Danube, are covered. Transparent glass panels inform hikers that these two fish species are highly endangered, among other things.

Guided tours for school classes and tourist groups are also available by appointment.
