The success of the St. Florian Boys' Choir rests on the strong foundation of its almost thousand-year history. Numerous outstanding musicians have emerged from its ranks since the choir was founded, the most famous of them all: Anton Bruckner. Today, the St. Florian Boys' Choir is an internationally active, lively choir with a diverse repertoire - and the clear aim of conveying its own joy of music to its audience. On their regular concert tours, as cultural ambassadors of Europe, they bring the great heritage of Austrian musical tradition as well as the latest repertoire ideas to all continents.
The unique sound of the boys' choir, which is only cultivated by a few institutions worldwide, continues to be in great demand at important music festivals and in major opera productions. In recent decades, the choir has travelled all over the world, performed at major music festivals (including the Salzburg Festival, Vienna Festival, Festival d'Aix en Provence) and worked with the most famous orchestras (Vienna Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, etc.) and conductors. Franz Welser-Möst, former General Music Director of the Vienna State Opera, is the Honorary President of the "Friends of the St. Florian Boys' Choir" association.
