Parish Church of Schwertberg

- Suitable for groups
The Parish of Schwertberg was founded in the year 1357 and is consecrated to Saint Philippe and Saint Jacob.
The church was donated by the then owner of Windegg Castle, Eberhard of Kapellen. The years of 1913 and 1914 saw comprehensive extension and augmentation to the church. The two aisle nave boasts lavish net vaults and is set in a splendid hilltop location.
The tower, standing 37 meters tall with a wedge-shaped roof, was erected around 1500. The late Gothic style church building you see today mainly dates back to the late 15th century. The Church houses the family tomb of the Thürheim Dynasty built in 1777.
The Parish Church of Schwertberg is a sight to behold that can be visited anytime for free.
