JOCHENSTEIN RUN-OF-RIVER PLANT VERBUND Jochenstein Energy Adventure – 3D adventure at Jochenstein The Jochenstein Run-of-River Plant connects Austria with Bavaria and is a public border crossing point for cyclists and pedestrians. Its name originates in the rock “Jochensteinfelsen”, which legend says is the seat of the Danube nymph ISA, the sister of Loreley. The Jochenstein is often referred to as the most beautiful run-of-river power plant of Austria by experts. In the information centre at the Austrian shore you get to know everything about the power plant and the water force itself. VERBUND Jochenstein Energy Adventure – 3D adventure at Jochenstein Children and families can immerse deeply into the world of hydropower and get a tour through the power plant with 3D effects. The central piece of this tour is a smartphone app which can be turned into 3D glasses in combination with the visitor’s smartphone. Usually the electricity generation with its additional facilities takes place completely beneath the water or behind walls. Now visitors can explore the hidden secrets of hydropower with the free app “Energieerlebnis Jochenstein” and the virtual reality glasses. Visitors watch native fish on the Danube riverbed, discover the role of power plants as garbage collectors. The highlight is the virtual ride in the Kaplan turbine. The virtual visit is free, only a rental fee for the virtual reality glasses is required.
