Historic city centre of Enns

It is a magic that characterises Enns.
Which, it seems, remains well protected by the city walls and creates the special atmosphere of this city!

It is not for nothing that Enns was the first city in Austria to be awarded the title of "cittá Slow". For Enns, this was an unconditional commitment to a conscious lifestyle and urban philosophy, towards a new slowness of life, towards true values and tangible enjoyment!

The houses in the old town centre are mostly from the 15th and 16th centuries with impressive façades and idyllic courtyards.

The close observer is presented with lovingly preserved details in Gothic door and window panelling, Renaissance scraped plaster ornamentation, magnificent Baroque stucco and friezes from the Wilhelminian era.

This gives the impression that Enns is a unique portrait of past stylistic epochs. Ennsegg Castle and the towering, 60 metre high, free-standing 16th century town tower in the middle of the main square are impressive.

Historical sites such as the Lauriacum Museum - the Roman Central Museum or the Basilica of St. Laurenz harmonise in a special way. Laurenz harmonise in a special way with modern city life. In the centre of the "City of Towers" stands the landmark of Enns: the free-standing city tower, which not only invites you to visit, but is also the starting point for many discoveries!

If you would like to find out more about the history of the town of Enns and its historical sites, then we cordially invite you to take a guided tour of the town!

Guided tours of the town all year round at any time by appointment and from 1 May to 15 September also daily at 10:00 am - meeting point in front of the town tower!
