Partenstein Power Station

St. Martin im Mühlkreis, Oberösterreich, Österreich

Welcome to the Partenstein storage power station.

The Partenstein Pumped-Storage Power Plant is Austria’s first large-scale power plant. It is located in the Mühlviertel region, in the southern part of the municipality of Kleinzell im Mühlkreis, near the confluence of the Große Mühl and the Danube. After its completion in 1924, it set new standards in early electrification due to its high output by the standards of the time. Despite a later increase in capacity, it now ranks far down the list of Austria’s most powerful power plants.
