Francisco Carolinum Linz

The Francisco Carolinum Linz is the museum for modern and contemporary art of the province of Upper Austria. It conveys the latest art trends and integrates them into the art history of the 20th century. The programme of the FC - Francisco Carolinum is determined by the interweaving of regional, national and international art production.

The FC - Francisco Carolinum Linz focuses on the field of photography and has established itself in the last decade as an internationally networked house for high-quality photography presentations in Austria. In addition to presentations of contemporary art, the communication of 20th century art history with reference to Upper Austria is one of the main objectives of the FC - Francisco Carolinum programme.

The FC - Francisco Carolinum Linz continuously realises special exhibitions, whereby the programme includes both personal exhibitions and thematic projects. It acts as co-organiser of numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. On these levels, for example, projects have been developed in cooperation with the Fotohof in Salzburg, the Photographische Sammlung SK-Stiftung Kultur in Cologne and most recently the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson in the USA, the Museum Kunstpalast Düsseldorf and Kunstforum Ostdeutsche Galerie, Regensburg.

The historic building at Museumstraße 14 is the headquarters of OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH, which was founded on 1 April 2020. Today the management, administration, library and graphic collection of OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH are also located here.
