Castle Museum Linz

The Schlossmuseum Linz is the largest universal museum in Austria.
On 18,000 square meters you will find an extensive collection of the natural, cultural and technical history of Upper Austria.
The mixture of historical and modern architecture of the building is also impressive. The castle museum is enthroned high above the city and the river. The historic Renaissance castle and the modern new building of the south wing are architecturally successful and once again demonstrate the forward-looking attitude of the Capital of Culture 2009.

The permanent exhibitions of the castle museum offer a diverse insight and guide visitors through the cultural history of Upper Austria.

In addition, large exhibitions dealing with national and international themes as well as smaller presentations from the museum's collections are held every year.
The castle museum is also a highlight for families: exhibitions are specially prepared for young visitors.

Located in a 70-metre-long gallery, the lift leads directly to the museum foyer. This makes the castle museum directly accessible from the city centre.
